Bridgewater, N.S. - Today, the Liverpool ready-mix plant resumed operations after a decades-long closure, as the result of a new joint venture between Bridgewater Ready Mix and South Shore Ready Mix. Restoring the ready-mix operations in Liverpool has required a significant investment over the 18-month project. It will allow Bridgewater and South Shore Ready Mix to improve service levels and turn-around times for customers in Queen’s County.
“Getting access to a second ready-mix plant will allow us to serve our customers better,” said Joel Westin, President of Bridgewater Ready Mix. “Having operations in Liverpool will reduce driving time for our concrete trucks working in the area, allowing us to complete jobs more quickly, and help in our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.”
“Being able to cost share with Bridgewater Ready Mix made it possible to do this,” said Lloyd Bonang, President of South Shore Ready Mix. “We are very excited by the opportunities this new partnership offers and hope this will make us an attractive supplier for large-scale capital projects in the area, such as the Mersey River Wind Project.”
Bridgewater Ready Mix and South Shore Ready Mix will continue to operate independently and use the Liverpool Ready Mix Plant as a shared infrastructure for work in the area. The joint venture has set up Liverpool Ready Mix Ltd., as a separate entity for operating the plant but orders will continue to be placed with each partner. The new company employs one full-time employee and has one truck however, if demand for services increases in the area Liverpool Ready Mix may hire additional staff and eventually employ up to three people.
